Our development

Founded as Tele-Consulting
The company was founded in 1982 as “Tele-Consulting GmbH” by the renowned network expert Dipl.-Ing. Dieter Steinle and a partner. Tele-Consulting established itself as a vendor-independent technology consultancy for all tasks related to the planning, operation and administration of telecommunications solutions.

Security since 1988
secuvera has been advising on IT security issues since as early as 1988. In the early years, major studies such as the 1988 LAN study and vendor-independent specialist seminars laid the foundations for in-depth, high-quality consulting. The company has remained true to the principle of thorough expert analysis and working methods since its first days.
- 1992
BSI-recognised evaluation facility
Since 1992, secuvera has been a BSI-recognised evaluation facility for “trusted systems”.
- 2002
Security. Networking. Training.
In 2002, after the partner left, the company was renamed “Tele-Consulting security | networking | training GmbH”. This name reflected the three core areas in which Tele-Consulting had become successful at the time.
- 2011
Certified security consulting
Since December 2011, our security consulting services have also been backed by independent certification. The BSI recognises secuvera as a certified IT security service provider for IS audit (IS-Revision).
- 2013
Recognition for penetration testing
In September 2013, secuvera was additionally recognised as a BSI-certified IT security service provider for penetration testing.
- 2013
Tele-Consulting becomes secuvera.
On 1 October 2013, the company was renamed “secuvera GmbH”. The employees and the company's DNA – independent, competent and client-focused consulting – have remained the same.
Independent consulting from the start
In the founding years, Dieter Steinle was a member of the expert commission for the promotion of new communication technologies (EKOM) set up by the then Minister-President Lothar Späth. As a result, Tele-Consulting planned the state administration network of Baden-Württemberg and managed its implementation. Dieter Steinle's pioneering work led to numerous further projects, such as what was then the largest VoIP network, for the University of Stuttgart.
Why secuvera?
We have focused our service portfolio exclusively on information security. “Tele-Consulting” repeatedly caused confusion, as we know from direct feedback from several clients and from regular mix-ups (“Are you from Telekom?”). The name no longer matched our services.
The search was not short: our own attempts, an advertising agency and a crowdsourcing project with 791 designs brought us forward step by step. Keeping the old initials “TC” and keeping the name open to any kind of service proved particularly difficult.
On the way to the managing directors' meeting in January 2013, word elements from various dictionaries were collected and combined. Then, during brainstorming at the meeting, came the suggestion: secuvera. Truth, truthfulness, sincerity. And it sounds good.
On 20 March 2013, the word mark and the figurative mark were filed for registration. At the end of September, the word mark was successfully registered without opposition. Because of an opposition to the figurative mark, we initially started without a logo of our own. The renaming did not change anything about the company, the contacts or existing contracts.
Our Vera
Seekuh Vera
Say “Seekuh Vera” (German for “Vera the sea cow”) out loud: it sounds like secuvera. That is why the blue sea cow with the green neckerchief is our mascot.
As a plush toy, Vera accompanies us to trade fairs, university events and our summer party and can be seen in many of our photos. Under #teamvera we share what is happening in the team.
